the breeze flew through the air, whispering sweet nothings and promises of a brighter future into the ears of a dark character. it was nearly dawn, and the rustling and movement of things that had started late in the night, had yet to stop. ravenflight was determined on finishing the camp clean-up before then. he hadn't had time to rest. no time to mope around, not for this cat. he growled at his aching muscles, urging them on as he plucked rocks, stones and sticks out of what used to be the nursery.
he was finished with the other dens and this was the last one. it seemed to be one of the worst damaged out of all of them and he sighed. i have yet to understand what we did to deserve this... he thought as he threw a large stick out onto a pile of other sticks, tail lengths away from him. trying his hardest to keep the effort going, ravenflight dug and dug. not only into the rubble, but also into the deep depths of his inner thoughts. all this multi-tasking of the mind and body was tiring the poor tom out. he huffed and ended up collapsing in exhaustion. once again, he was overworking himself.
The soft yellows rays of sunlight shone down upon the hard barren earth, taunting the cats who lived amongst the barren waste and wreckage with the knowledge that in the end, they were all alone. Knowledge, perhaps, all cats had but one: the beautiful, the seductive, the harmonious, the lovely Honeycloud. She was a true believer, changed by one night, one dream which sent her life into a tailspin of wishes an promises and the purest of faith. There was a part of her, a small part in the back of her head that hated this, that was scared and mad at her warrior ancestors for putting her in this position, this position of being the only one. She hid it well, though, behind a curtain of little white lies and harmless flirting.
Speaking of flirting.
"Why hello there, brave and fearless leader." Honeycloud purred, her voice beautiful with a musicality to it that caught on the wind. Her taunting was clear, however, as she padded softly around his fallen form, the strong, dark tom a crumpled mess on the nursery floor. It was... cute, almost, how he ran himself down like he did.
She ran her long tail along the length of his body, playing with him, sure, but also looking to comfort the tom in her own way. "Lying down on the job, I see."
a venomously sweet voice swept through not only the eardrums, but the mind of the suddenly vulnerable tom. honeycloud he hissed within. it was this she-cat's mind games she played with him that threw ravenflight completely off guard. of course, he found a way to bounce back, but it all made him wonder. it was just foreign to him, he supposed...although, there was obviously something different about this cat... brushing off both his deep thoughts and the fall, ravenflight glared up at the she-cat. " for your information, honeycloud, i fell. i would never rest on the job, and you - of all cats - should know that." he scoffed softly, knowing she was only teasing. he pushed himself up off the ground, moaning as he did. he still ached, but had loosed up as he lay there. shaking out his pelt, the tom gave a small sneeze, dust and debris flying everywhere. he sniffled and glanced up at the she-cat, hazel-green eyes softening. " so, what's up? is there something you wanted...?," he began with a more friendly tone, a purr even [although that only lasted for a second], " or are you just here to mess with me..."
The pretty she-cat let out a purr of laughter at his expense, enjoying how easily she unnerved him. It was clear that the tom was simply exhausted, overworked, and, frankly, more deserving or a rest than any other cat in the clan, and that was why it was so fun to tease him. She twitched her whiskers at him.
“You should watch your paws better then, sweetheart.”
She sat down next to him, her long tail curling around her paws as she watched him struggle to a standing position, feeling a pang of worry for him although her face never showed it, nor her eyes betrayed it. There was no herb or polyjuice that could cure him of his exhaustion, but sleep, and Honeycloud knew there was a good chance he wouldn’t do so, even if she prescribed it to him, until his job was done or he collapsed for good.
“Well, not that I don’t cherish every moment I have to mess with you….” She mused, liking when he broke sometimes and exposed the part of himself that actually seemed to like her, in his own way. It was what kept her playing with him, for it was never fun to tease someone who truly hated it. “I came to offer my help. Barkface’s old den is fully stocked and sorted.” Funny, how she couldn’t wrap her mind around it being her den. “As medicine cat I need to do what I can to make sure you get some sleep. If that means helping you finish sooner, so be it.”
“I am at your disposal.” She saluted with her tail, praying to starclan it wouldn’t be something too yicky.

before he did anything, ravenflight gave the she-cat a stern glare. how he hated needing others helping him. it made him feel like a burden - one thing he knew he didn't have to be if he could help it -. flicking his ear, he glanced over at the small pile he had left, then back at his medicine cat. " if it's what any medicine cat would do..." he began with a defeated sigh, " so be it.". turning away from her, the tom carried on with his work. he weaved into the wood, trying to find a point in the pile.
